THE NIKON F55 - BEGIN SHOOTING

1) Turn the power switch on.

2) Open the camera back and insert film roll.

- by closing the camera back, the film will be automatically advanced and the number of available shots will be registered on the LCD panel

3) Set the exposure mode dial to AUTO mode.

4) Set the focus mode selector to M.

- to focus, look through the viewfinder and rotate the focus ring to get a sharp image of the subject
- the shutter button can be released regardless of clarity of subject

5) Hold the camera steadily, compose the subject into frame and focus. Then, lightly press shutter release button.

6) Fully depress the shutter release button.

- be cautious of camera shake
- it will occur when the person's hands are shaky, or pressing the shutter button abruptly

7) The film roll will rewind automatically when it reaches the end of it.

- take note: the E should be blinking in the LCD panel during the removal of the film catridge

THE NIKON F55 - LOADING FILM CATRIDGE

1) Turn the camera on, open the camera back by sliding the camera back lock release lever and load film catridge.

- insert film roll from the botton and all the way in to load it

2) Pull film leader across the red index mark.

- align the film leader to red index mark, if not properly aligned, film may not load correctly
- hold the film catridge to make sure it is positioned with no slack

- be cautious that the shutter curtains are thin and should not be touched

3) Gently close the camera back until it snaps shuts.

- film would automatically advance to final frame and number of shots shown on the LCD panel
- if there is an E indication, film is not properly inserted
- if there is an Err indication, film has not correctly advanced

SHUTTER-PRIORITY (Function mode: S)
- able to set Shutter speed manually
- Aperture level will be automically adjusted to Shutter speed to gain correct picture exposure

- with a faster Shutter speed, subject motion will be sharper in detail (eg. a person jumping will be caught in mid-air with every detail such as his legs being clear)

- with a slower Shutter speed, subject motion will be blur (eg. streaks of light coming from moving vehicles instead of clarity in detail of the vehicles' headlights)

- to activate, just toggle Command Dial to get desired Shutter speed

APERTURE-PRIORITY (Function mode: A)
- able to set Aperture manually
- Shutter speed will automatically be adjusted to Aperture level to gain correct picture exposure
- depth of field is affected: a smaller Aperture level (eg. f/32) would produce a sharper background while a larger Aperture level (eg. f/2.8) will produce a blurrier background

- to activate, just toggle Command Dial to get desired Aperture level

AUTO-MULTI PROGRAM (Function mode: P)
- best used for simple shooting
- exposure settings is controlled to get the best picture exposure

- Flexible Program allows either Shutter or Aperture to be toggled to achieve the best exposure (for example, if the Shutter speed is toggled, the camera will automatically adjust the Aperture level to gain the correct picture exposure according to the Shutter speed)
- to activate, just rotate Command Dial
